Education & Career Background

Alexander Demyan, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University in 2014 and completed his Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner program at Kent State University in 2023.

Alexander began his healthcare career as an Emergency Department nurse at Cleveland Clinic. He later worked as a travel nurse in emergency departments throughout South Carolina, Arizona, Colorado, and Ohio, gaining diverse clinical experience and exposure to different healthcare settings. Prior to joining Health Express, he spent four years as ED RN at Southwest General.

His background in emergency medicine has shaped his ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and provide compassionate, evidence-based care. Throughout his years in the Emergency Department, he witnessed many serious health conditions that may have been prevented or improved through healthier lifestyle choices and earlier intervention. These experiences reinforced his passion for preventive medicine and inspired him to help patients take proactive steps toward better health. Today, he is dedicated to helping patients improve their overall well-being through preventive care, chronic disease management, and patient education.

What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?

I was drawn to healthcare because it combines science, problem-solving, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. Helping patients overcome challenges, improve their health, and achieve their goals is what motivates me every day.

What is your favorite part of caring for patients?

My favorite part of patient care is building lasting relationships with patients and helping them feel heard, respected, and supported. I enjoy partnering with patients to develop personalized care plans that fit their lives and empower them to take an active role in their health.

What areas of medicine are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about preventive medicine and helping patients build healthy lifestyles that support long-term wellness. During my years in emergency medicine, I cared for many patients facing complications from chronic conditions that may have been prevented or reduced through healthier habits and routine medical care. Those experiences strengthened my commitment to helping patients focus on nutrition, physical activity, weight management, and other lifestyle changes that can prevent disease and improve overall quality of life.

One piece of health advice you wish every patient knew?

Long-term health is built through small, consistent choices. Simple habits such as staying active, prioritizing sleep, eating a balanced diet, and keeping up with preventive care can have a tremendous impact over time, with the goal of living a long, healthy life.

What is something patients may be surprised to learn about you?

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I served for nine years in the Air Force National Guard, working with pavements and heavy equipment. I attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, and the values I learned through military service—discipline, teamwork, and dedication—continue to influence my approach to patient care today.

Favorite hobby, activity, or way to spend your free time?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children, traveling, staying active, mountain biking, yardwork, and exploring the outdoors. Family time and creating new experiences together are some of my greatest joys.

Three words that describe your approach to patient care Compassionate. Collaborative. Patient-centered.
